Mappify Adds…CTM 1.0!

Lars Heuer posts, Mappify Topic Maps to Topic Maps Web Service has added support for CTM 1.0!

According to Lars:

Mappify can convert CTM sources into JTM 1.0, XTM 2.1 and even into CTM 1.0 🙂

That last one, CTM to CTM, would that be like comparing your chess moves with those of a computer faced with the same situation?

CTM 1.0 -> CTM 1.0 makes a bit sense if you have a CTM source which includes another CTM source. The web service delivers just one CTM result where all included / merged in sources are already resolved. Further, all template invocations are already made, c.f. the “Bowie” example here http://www.infoloom.com/pipermail/topicmapmail/2010q3/008352.html

  2. Lars,

Well, that is one obvious difference from conversion of CTM 1.0 to CTM 1.0. I don’t have an example (yet) but suspect there are others.

If you think of inclusion as a “shortcut” for human authoring, I suspect that may point to other places where a human author has less typing and a computer system might flesh out the map so to speak.

Thanks for the steady stream of topic map capabilities as a web service!
